Are you a watch wearer? For years I’ve worn a watch. I’ve worn one pretty much every single day since I’ve been an adult. The thing is I don’t usually use them to tell the time. I try not to be that interested in the time even though life is dictated by time. There are places I need to be by certain times, but I love that I can wear a watch and not worry about time. I can wear a watch as an accessory with the added benefit of it being able to give me the time if I need it. A watch is something to add to my wrist to match my clothes or shoes or style for that day.
I have a few watches. Some are for fashion and some are for exercise. I was recently approached by JORD wood watches to review one of their watches. So I’ve been wearing one for a few weeks now and I have to say I love it. When they first approached me I checked out their website JORD wood watches and what I loved and what aligned with my values, is that they outline the sustainability of the wood that is used in each of their watches.
I try to be conscious of what my shopping money supports. I never buy products that contribute to animal cruelty by using animal hides in their manufacturing or testing on animals or using animals in the design or manufacture or processing of the product. There are so many beautiful products in the marketplace that don’t contribute to animal cruelty, so it becomes very easy to support those that align with my values.
JORD lists each of the woods they use and details the source of the wood, the grain and texture as well as the sustainability of each particular wood. That way you can be sure to choose the wood that not only suits your style but fits your values. There is even a story behind the different woods, there is different glass and different timing mechanisms. Who knew time could be so complex!
When my watch arrived it was presented in a beautiful timber box and the first thing I noticed when I opened it was the smell of the timber. I was sent the ebony and gold watch from the Frankie collection. It was packaged in a beautiful timber box and presented on a small pillow to protect it during transport. It is also where I now keep my watch when I’m not wearing it.
And seriously, I have a confession to make. I sometimes sniff my watch band.
Nearly a month after testing and wearing the watch, the smell of the ebony is still strong. I love being in the outdoors, and I love being in forests and bushes and beaches – anywhere where I can get a sniff of nature. With my JORD wood watch even if I’m in a shopping centre I can sniff my wrist and pretend I’m outside.
JORD gives sizing and measurement tools on their website so each watch comes perfectly fitted, although there are some other links in the box if you want it a little looser.
There are small and large watch faces for both the men’s and women’s range, so there is a watch for all tastes.

How do you deal with the constraints of time? Do you feel like there is never enough time? Or do you feel like you’ve got too much time and not enough things to do?
