I recently went to Greenhouse Factory Restaurant and Bar for lunch. This has become my favourite vegan restaurant on the Gold Coast and the only thing I don’t like is that I don’t get there often enough. It’s located in Kirra, on the southern end of the coast at 1/74 Musgrave Street. Sitting on the deck, there are views up to Surfers Paradise.
It’s aim is to deliver locally sourced and locally made vegan food. Through the food they cook and events they hold, they showcase the diversity and quality of food that a vegan lifestyle can bring. They are the only licensed vegan restaurant on the coast making it the perfect place for catching up with friends. Did you know that a lot of wine is filtered with eggs and milk? Greenhouse Factory has vegan wine! And beer! Although on this occasion I chose a green smoothie, it was lunch time after all.
As a vegan, when I go to a restaurant I can usually pick my meal within a couple of minutes. I often only have one or two choices. But at Greenhouse Factory I can have everything. I read and reread the menu, trying to restrain myself from salivating all over it. It’s okay, I didn’t, your menu will be free from my salivation. This time I chose the burger, mainly because it came with chickpea fries. And I had the field mushrooms instead of a bun to encase the burger.
My mum had the fresh vegetable and tofu shishkebabs that were served with both a satay sauce and a mint cashew yogurt.
We shared a caramel slice for dessert.
And if all this is making you wish you were there, you can be. Just turn up, or call ahead and book a table. You can contact them on (07) 55991112 and Like them on Facebook. This is not a sponsored post. There’s nothing in it for me. Except if they are successful then they’ll hang around. And if they are successful maybe other restauranteurs will open other vegan restaurants and I’ll be in vegan foodie heaven. So, maybe there is something in it for me.
What’s your favourite vegan restaurant? Maybe I’ll go and check it out.
**EDIT** Greenhouse Factory has moved and had a name change. It is now Greenhouse Kitchen and is in Miami, much closer to home. I’ll be posting a review soon.
